Produced in Marsala, located at the western tip of Sicily, Marsala is one of the world's four great fortified wines, and its name means "Port of God" in Arabic.
It is said that Marsala originated in 1773 when the British merchant John Woodhouse, trying to make a wine that could withstand export, imitated Madeira and Sherry.
It is made after aging for more than two years in oak barrels.
Amber in color, it has a rich and intense aroma, and a velvety smooth taste.
A medium-bodied, sweet Marsala. Enjoy with dessert, or as an after-dinner drink.
Classification: Marsala DOC
Grape varieties: Grillo 80%, Inzolia + Catarratto 20%
Tasting: Aromas of dried fruit, orange marmalade, licorice, and nuts spread. It is well-balanced, sweet, smooth, and full-bodied, with a long finish reminiscent of almonds and coffee.
Production method: Grapes harvested by hand from late August to early September are fermented for 15-20 days in steel tanks with temperature controlled at 16-18°C. Alcohol and other ingredients are added to a wine base aged for 90 days to increase the alcohol content while retaining sweetness. Aged for a minimum of two years in oak barrels.
Pairing: As an after-dinner drink, with desserts such as tarts and pies.
