Product Details

Plumbago is named after the beautiful purple wild flower that grows in the woods around Ulmo's barn and vineyards, and is made from 100% Nero d'Avola grapes. Made from grapes grown in old vineyards located around Lake Arancio, this wine brings out the soft, fruity charm of Sicily's great grape variety, Nero d'Avola. With rounded tannins and a pleasant oak aroma, it is a very approachable wine. It is ideal with Mediterranean cuisine, especially vegetable and meat dishes.

Classification: Sicilia DOC

Grape variety: 100% Nero d'Avola

Tasting Notes:

A deep wisteria color throughout, with dominant aromas of ripe plum and blackberry, pleasantly complex with hints of incense, jasmine, and black truffle. The tannins are soft and sweet, captivating like a Sacher Torte. However, there is also a darker, more direct austerity, like Modica chocolate from Sicily. This 100% Nero d'Avola wine, made from grapes grown in old vineyards near Lake Arancio, showcases the soft and fruity style of Nero d'Avola, Sicily's great grape variety. With rounded tannins and a moderate oak aging, this wine is very approachable and ready to enjoy.

Production Method: After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with stirring at a controlled temperature of 25°C for 14 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to old barrels in January to soften the tannins and aged for 8 months until September. It is then bottle-aged for 6 months.

Pairing: Grilled meat dishes such as lamb, and Mediterranean cuisine in general
