“We decided not to name this wine, one of Borgogno's best, as a quiet act of defiance against the bureaucrats who torment farmers,” says owner Andrea Farinetti.

When the first vintage was released in 2008, this wine, which met the criteria to be a Barolo, was not recognized as a Barolo DOCG due to "color issues."

Then, a few weeks later, when they bottled wine from another barrel made from the same grapes and took it to the authorities, that wine was recognized as a Barolo DOCG.

Owner Farinetti, angered by the different evaluations given to the same wine, decided not to obtain the Barolo DOCG designation, intentionally downgraded it, and released it as "NO NAME: The Unnamed Barolo."

For Borgogno, No Name has been, and still is, "Barolo" since its inception.

Classification: Langhe Nebbiolo DOC

Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo

Tasting Notes: Purplish ruby color.
Extremely elegant and lingering aromas of violets, roses, red fruits, and spices. Good balance of acidity and fruit, with velvety tannins contributing to an elegant full body. A strict and rich wine.

Winemaking Method: After hand-harvesting from five vineyards used for Barolo, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks at 22-28°C for 15 days. After soft pressing and clarification, the wine is aged in 4,500L Slavonian oak casks for 3 years, followed by 6 months of bottle aging.

Pairing: Game dishes, stewed meats, teppanyaki
