About the Project

"Costasera Contemporary Art" is a project where world-renowned artists collaborate with Masi's iconic, premium wine, "Amarone Costasera." Artists from countries with historical ties to Masi are selected to create works inspired by the wine.

2015 Artist: Maya von Moos (Switzerland)

The artist selected for 2015 is Maya von Moos from Switzerland. Her talent is expressed through the innovative art form of "3D animation," a method of constructing each element in a digital space and bringing them to life to tell a story.

The artwork is titled "The Metamorphosis of Matter". The label, which condenses and visually expresses the world of this digital work, adorns the precious aged bottle of Costasera 1999 vintage.

In 1999, the winter was particularly dry with no severe cold, but the summer saw very high rainfall, resulting in uneven ripening of the bunches and excess moisture in the grapes. However, favorable weather conditions just before harvest ultimately improved the situation. While this vintage can be considered average, the expertise of the technicians, who appropriately utilized modern techniques such as selected yeasts and enzymes during fermentation, allowed for exceptionally good quality and a solid structure to be achieved. It boasts excellent color and powerful aromas, with a very good structure. Production increased by 5% compared to the previous vintage.
