Product Details

A wine made exclusively from grapes harvested from Biondi-Santi's Vigna Li Angeli vineyard, with aromas of thyme, lavender, and spices. It has a firm structure with velvety tannins. A wonderfully balanced Brunello.

Classification: Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG

Grape variety: 100% Sangiovese Grosso

Vintage Report: Winter rainfall was low except for February, and a spring cold snap on April 17 brought temperatures down to -4ºC. The impact of this cold spell varied depending on the location of the vineyard. Rainfall from April to June was good, and flowering and fruit set proceeded normally, but bud break was delayed in vineyards affected by the cold. There was no summer drought, and there were several rainfalls in August. September and October had little rainfall, and temperatures in September in particular were well above average. Grape ripening was perfect and very fast, and harvesting began around the 20th.

Tasting: Deep ruby color with garnet hues. Aromas of ripe berries, plums, and sweet spices, with nuances of tobacco and licorice. The palate is smooth, with firm tannins and rich fruit beautifully balanced, leading to an elegant finish with a long aftertaste.

Production Method: Grapes harvested from Biondi-Santi's Vigna gli Angeli vineyard are soft-pressed, then fermented at 30°C. Maceration for 15 days. Racked twice a year and aged for 4 years in large Slavonian oak barrels. Bottle-aged for 1 year.

Pairing: Red meat, game
