LAVAZZA

An established coffee brand founded in 1895

LAVAZZA was born in Turin, an ancient city in Italy. Its history began when its founder, Luigi Lavazza, opened a shop on Via San Tommaso. Luigi studied the origins and characteristics of various coffee bean varieties and mastered the art of blending them to suit his customers' preferences. This technique continues to captivate coffee lovers even after more than 130 years.

Moreover, having overcome challenging periods such as World War II and the coffee embargo era, it grew to become Italy's largest company in 1957, and to this day maintains its position as the number one brand in the Italian market share.

In the 1980s, it expanded globally and is now enjoyed in 140 countries worldwide.

Committed to sustainability since 2004

While sustainable initiatives are now widely expected of companies due to increased social awareness, this was certainly not the norm over 20 years ago. LAVAZZA launched the "¡Tierra!" series, which uses beans focused on supporting producers, environmental protection, and sustainable farming practices, pursuing not only taste but also "ethical quality."

Through this initiative, the environment is gradually improving, with over 3,000 coffee farms in 8 countries seeing increased incomes and improved living standards.

In 2015, coffee was sent to space!?

Italian espresso was delivered to the International Space Station. In cooperation with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), LAVAZZA and ARGOTEC jointly developed ISSPRESSO, the first coffee machine to be sent into space. This proactive spirit of taking on new challenges continues to this day.

In 2019, international sales accounted for 70% of its market share, solidifying its position as a global brand. Currently, it has over 4,000 partner companies, 9 manufacturing plants in 6 countries, and delivers coffee to 140 countries.

Unrivaled dedication to coffee

1. The tradition of "blending"

LAVAZZA's greatest feature is "blending multiple origins instead of a single origin." The blending technique created by Luigi over 130 years ago is still inherited today. Combining the characteristics of different origins and reproducing the same taste consistently, "stable quality and deliciousness" is LAVAZZA's strength.

2. Using Arabica and Robusta beans according to their purpose

By balancing Arabica and Robusta according to their purpose, we achieve a unique aroma and taste. Arabica beans provide aroma, acidity, and sweetness, while Robusta beans contribute body, crema, and strength.

3. Thorough quality control of green beans

Through strong partnerships built over many years with producing regions, we meticulously manage harvesting times, inspection of defective green beans, and selection criteria. This management is the reason why we can maintain high quality.

4. Dedication to roasting

We use a air convection roaster and adjust the roasting based on origin and variety, adopting a roasting profile that emphasizes high aroma, balanced taste, and reproducibility in espresso.

LAVAZZA's commitment

May every morning begin a better world

May we deliver these beautiful words to you, along with our coffee.
