One of the three crus released by the company. Unlike other plots, the soil of Maccione is a cold and deep clay soil. It is an elegant wine characterized by dense tannins.
The 2019 vintage received 98 points from Decanter Magazine USA.
Classification: Toscana IGT
Grape Variety: 100% Sangiovese Grosso BBS11
Tasting Notes: Aromas of cassis, violet, and eucalyptus. It features a firm body and dense tannins, resulting in an elegant and cool-toned wine.
Winemaking Method: After destemming, the grapes are soft-pressed and fermentation begins at 23°C in 75HL stainless steel tanks. Delestage is performed daily, with 6 hours of settling, followed by remontage to raise the fermentation temperature to 26°C. After fermentation is complete, malolactic fermentation is carried out in 30HL stainless steel tanks with bâtonnage. The wine is aged for two years in new Taransaud T5 barrels.
