Aglianico is said to thrive best around 41 degrees north latitude, where volcanic areas are concentrated, especially in Campania. The single vineyard, Piano di Montevergine Taurasi, is located on volcanic soil at an altitude of 450m. Due to good ventilation and large temperature differences between day and night, the grapes ripen slowly. The Aglianico grown here, in particular, becomes a great, long-aging wine with a complex, balsamic aroma and refined, elegant taste.

Classification: Taurasi Riserva DOCG

Grape variety: Aglianico 100%

Tasting notes: Deep garnet-tinged ruby. Layers of aromas of black cherry confit, plum, dried herbs, toasted bread, and cacao. The taste is concentrated yet well-balanced, with notes of licorice and spices blended into ripe fruit flavors. The tannins are elegant and smooth, enveloping the palate, with a long finish that reveals the completeness and depth characteristic of a great vintage.

Winemaking method: Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates in late October, with bunches selected. After destemming and crushing, long maceration is performed with temperature control at 25-26°C. The wine is then aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barriques, followed by another 12 months of bottle aging before release.

Pairing: Grilled lamb, well-aged cheeses, etc.
