The story of this wine began in Irpinia in 2004.
Our vision was to maximize the potential of the indigenous grape varieties typical of Campania, and to express them in a new way no one had ever attempted before: the "Metodo Classico" (traditional method of bottle fermentation). To achieve this ambitious goal, Feudi di San Gregorio teamed up with Anselme Selosse, the Champagne master. Together, they visited approximately 750 vineyards scattered across the mountains of Irpinia, selecting the grapes most suitable for Metodo Classico. He was deeply impressed by the astonishing minerality and freshness of Greco and Aglianico. These characteristics were indeed ideal for producing excellent sparkling wine.
Irpinia is a mountainous region with abundant rain, snow, and strong winds, blessed with volcanic soil. It is a land with an unexpected terroir that sets it apart from what is typically considered "Southern Italy."
"DUBL" is a spumante brand with a unique worldview, inspired by design and architecture. The bottle designs were created by renowned Italian designers Massimo Vignelli (DUBL Edition) and Fabio Novembre (DUBL Esse).
DUBL is a brand open to creators and pioneers worldwide, aimed at curious enthusiasts exploring new expressions of traditional indigenous grape varieties.
In June 2022, DUBL became the first Italian Metodo Classico to obtain both "B Corp" and "Equalitas" certifications.
The crisp acidity and delicate flavor derived from the high-altitude, cool terroir of Irpinia are highly acclaimed globally for their excellent compatibility with Japanese cuisine, and are served in Japanese restaurants overseas.
