商品詳細

Syrah is a noble Mediterranean grape variety, well-suited to dry, sunny regions like Sicily. For this reason, Planeta is confident in the potential and future of this variety. The historic and picturesque Marroccoli vineyard, located at an altitude of 400m, cultivates Syrah in a modern style while preserving the unique character of the grape.

Classification: Menfi DOC

Grape Variety: 100% Syrah

Tasting Notes: Deep garnet color. Rich aromas of ripe plum and blackberry, with nuances of tobacco, spice, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with smooth tannins and rich fruit flavors that blend like silk, leading to an elegant and complex vintage with a long finish of vanilla and licorice. One of the best vintages in recent years, characterized by powerful and well-balanced tannins.

Production Method: After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, then the juice is transferred to stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation. Depending on the fermentation stage, pumping over (circulation) is performed twice a day for short periods of 12-18 minutes, which gently extracts complexity from the wine while minimizing stress on the skins. Fermentation lasts approximately 12-14 days. The temperature is gradually increased from 14-15°C initially, to 20-22°C at one point, and 25-27°C at the end, then cooled in the final stage. After alcoholic fermentation is complete, the tanks are filled with wine from the same vineyard, and maceration with the skins is carried out for 18-20 days, after which the wine is racked. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, then the wine is transferred to French oak barrels for 14 months of aging. Aging is done in Allier oak barrels (35% new, 35% second-year, 30% third-year).

Pairing: Roasted lamb, game, beef, aged cheeses.
