商品詳細

Syrah is a noble Mediterranean grape variety, well-suited to dry, sunny regions like Sicily. For this reason, Planeta is confident in the variety's potential and future. The historic Marroccoli vineyard, which retains its wonderful scenery, is located at an altitude of 400m, and produces a modern style of Syrah while preserving the grape's character.

Classification: Menfi DOC

Grape variety: 100% Syrah

Tasting: Deep garnet color. Rich aromas of ripe plum and blackberry, with nuances of tobacco, spice, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with smooth tannins and rich fruit flavors harmonizing like silk, followed by a long finish of vanilla and licorice. An elegant and complex vintage, one of the best in recent years. Characterized by powerful and well-balanced tannins.

Production method: After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, and the juice is transferred to stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation. Depending on the stage of fermentation, pumping over (circulation) is performed twice a day for short periods of 12-18 minutes, which helps to extract complexity from the wine while being gentle on the skins. Fermentation lasts approximately 12-14 days. The temperature is gradually raised from 14-15°C initially, to 20-22°C at one point, and 25-27°C at the end, then cooled in the final stage. After alcoholic fermentation is complete, the tank is filled with wine from the same vineyard, and maceration with the skins in contact with the wine occurs for 18-20 days, after which the wine is racked. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is transferred to French oak barrels for 14 months of aging. Aging uses Allier oak barrels (35% new, 35% second-year, 30% third-year).

Pairing: Lamb, game, roasted beef, aged cheeses
