About the Project

"Costasera Contemporary Art" is a project that brings together world-renowned artists and Masi's iconic, top-tier wine, Amarone Costasera. Artists from countries with historical ties to Masi are selected to create works inspired by the wine.

2021 Artist: Misha Libertee

The artist selected for 2021 is Russian artist and designer, Misha Libertee (Mikhail Tsaturyan). Behind his distinctive humor lies a profound social mission. His public art, which addresses environmental issues, advocates for endangered animals and promotes a love for the Earth.

Artwork Title: "Jaba" The title of this work, created for Masi, is a transliteration of the Russian word for "toad." It features a highly original design inspired by the skin texture of tropical amphibians. A label reproducing this vibrant artwork beautifully adorns a specially selected bottle of Costasera 2003 vintage.

2003 Vintage:An unusually long drought and high temperatures threatened vine growth. However, a much-awaited, albeit small, amount of rain in August, combined with significant day-night temperature variations, created ideal conditions for harvest. Harvesting began on September 8th, approximately 10 days earlier than in recent years. While yields were slightly higher than the previous year, they remained below average. The grapes had high sugar content and milder acidity than usual. Ideal climatic conditions also persisted throughout the appassimento period.
