Feudi di San Gregorio's Taurasi DOCG is made from a blend of Aglianico from multiple plots. All scattered small plots are classified by conditions such as altitude, vine age, soil, and training method, and the highest quality grapes are selected for this Taurasi, after incorporating annually changing factors such as vineyard management and vintage.
Classification: Taurasi DOCG
Grape variety: Aglianico 100%
Tasting notes: Deep ruby with a brick hue on the rim. Compote of red fruits and dried cherries, intertwined with nuances of cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, leather, and earth. The palate maintains a firm structure, yet with prolonged bottle aging, the tannins are smooth and embracing, and a strong acidity lends tension to the whole. Mature fruit and spices persist quietly, a vintage that eloquently expresses the essence of a long-aging Taurasi.
Winemaking method: Vineyards at an altitude of 300-500m. Hand-harvested from mid to late October. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 24°C for 15 days, malolactic fermentation in wooden barrels. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, and a minimum of 9 months in bottle.
Pairing: Roasted red meats, oily fish, vegetable dishes
